In an article for the Motley Fool on January 1, 2024, Anthony Di Pizio encourages investors in the stock market (S&P500) to hold on for at least 10 years. Even if someone invests at the top of the market, the longer they remained invested the better the odds of making money. While we know that past performance does not guarantee future returns, his data reminds us of two things:

1) Over time the odds increase that stocks will provide a positive return.

2) It is important to know your risk tolerance and remember your time frame when investing.

Stocks are a long-term investment and as Di Pizio points out “short-term investing is never a good idea.”
